eCommerce Websites
eCommerce websites can be created using a variety of different methods; however, PayPal is the least expensive option, which is why it is the one I typically recommend.
PayPal allows you to accept all types of transactions (including credit card). PayPal does not have a monthly flat fee like most processing options do and only takes a small percentage of the total transaction (roughly 3% - but that percentage drops with significant increases in volume). Feel free to research other options, but I think you'll find it is the most reasonable one available.
You can use PayPal to create shopping-cart-style ecommerce (if you have multiple products), single purchase (if you only have one product you're selling), to collect donations (if you are a not-for-profit organization), or to charge for services (it's one of the methods I offer to my clients so they can pay using a credit card). In addition, utilizing PayPal's payment features does not require hiring a backend programmer (which can easily double your development costs).
Several examples created by MegWilliams.com using PayPal technology are FYLOcosmetics.com (upper-left), Bjeweled.net (upper-right), and FreeIndeedMinistries.org (lower-right) - which used PayPal to collect donations in addition to book sales. One of the other benefits of using PayPal is that you retain creative flexibility since it can be integrated with virtually any style design.
If you are interested in using PayPal, you'll need to set up a merchant account. You can do so by clicking on the PayPal graphic below. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
